Joshua Duncan-Smith

I found my calling in 2011, teaching at a small ski school tucked away in the Swiss Alps. From that first winter, I knew I’d discovered something that would shape the rest of my life. Skiing became more than a passion — it became a purpose.

Since then, I’ve spent over a decade immersed in the craft of coaching and the science of skill development. I’m proud to hold the highest levels of ski instructor certification from Italy (AMSI), New Zealand (NZSIA), Canada (CSIA), Ireland (IASI), and with the Professional Ski Instructors of Europe and Canada (PSIE & PSIC). I also serve as a senior examiner and Demo Team member for the NZSIA and PSIE. I work year-round across both hemispheres, teaching private clients, running a wide range of camps, and certifying ski instructors.

I’m also a CSCF Development Level race coach and hold the CTT Euro speed and mountain safety qualifications — tools that allow me to coach with precision, depth, and care. My focus is helping skiers move with greater freedom, confidence, and connection — whether they’re chasing personal breakthroughs or professional milestones.

Over the years, I’ve competed and demonstrated on some of the world’s most technical stages — including multiple terms with the NZSIA Demo Team, the Hansol Interski in Korea, and top finishes in the Whistler and Hokkaido Technical Ski Championships. I continue to share my approach and philosophy through my YouTube channel Josh Duncan Smith, with series like How To Ski and Ski Tips In A Minute reaching thousands of skiers each season.

More than anything, I believe in the transformative power of skiing — in the rhythm, the challenge, and the joy it brings. As a global ambassador for Original+, Carve Sport, Zip Fit, and SHRED Optics, I’m proud to represent a sport and a lifestyle that continues to teach me as much as I teach others.
